Access to quality Health services
Caritas SSD through the Diocesan Health Office and the 17 Diocesan Health Centers has continued to work towards improving the quality life of people in the Diocese through providing preventive and curative health services.
CORE ACTIVITY AREAS
- Build the capacity of existing 17 Diocesan Health Units to improve quality-of-service delivery.
- Improve the capacity of Diocesan Health Department to extend services to unreached or underserved communities
- Increase awareness on prevention of communicable diseases/alcohol &drug abuse in K-MD.
- Improve access to clean and safe water to K-MD communities
- Increase demand and access to comprehensive HIV prevention services
- Promotion of comprehensive treatment and care services to PLHAs
- Increase demand and access to youth friendly Reproductive Health Services
- Promote adoption and utilization of good hygiene and sanitation practices in K-MD supported communities.
- Conducting support supervision visits in all Diocesan health units
Conducting patients’ satisfaction and drug prescription surveys in Diocesan health unit so as to assess service delivery therein




K-MD PROGRAM 100
Since its inception in 2017, the Program has supported a total of 52 Diocesan schools (40 primary schools and 12 post primary schools) with a total of 20,706 individuals benefiting from its interventions.
Program objectives;
- To increase pit latrine coverage among primary and secondary schools in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
- To promote hygiene, sanitation and access to clean and safe water for children at school in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
- Change mindset of children and communities on hygiene and sanitation in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
- To increase energy saving stove coverage among Diocesan primary and secondary schools in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese.
Program activities.
- Construction of pit latrines in schools within the Diocese.
- Distribution of water tanks in schools within the Diocese.
- Distribution of drinking water purifiers both in schools and in the local community.
- Conducting training in making re-usable sanitary towels for both boys and girls in schools. Conducting trainings in making liquid soap for both pupils/students and the local community.
- Trainings of pupils/students in basic hygiene Practices and Tippy tap construction
- Construction of energy saving stoves in schools.
- Distribution of talking compound materials carrying educative messages on WASH and environment conservation.
- Distribution of fruit tree seedlings to schools
- Monitoring implementation of WASH activities in supported schools.
