K-MD Integrated Livelihoods Program (ILP)

The K-MD Integrated Livelihood Program is implemented under the Caritas K-MD Agriculture desk since the year 2017. It is phase-based with each phase covering a period of two years.  In the first phase, the Program implemented its activities in the four Ecclesiastical Parishes of; Naama, Buyambi, Mityana and Kyengeza in the sub parishes of Kidukulu and Myanzi in Naama parish; Lwogero, Bombo, Lusanja and Mwerwere in Buyambi parish; Nakibanga,Kibanyi and Namizingooli in Mityana parish; Mpiriggwa and Kyesengeze in Kyengeza parish.

A total 1,080 households benefited from its interventions.

In the second phase, the project was implemented in the Mwera Ecclesiastical Parish in the sub parishes of Bananze and Nsambya where over 350 households leaped from its benefits.

Under the 3rd Phase, the program has implemented its activities in Naluggi Ecclesiastical with a total of 385 households receiving support from the program

The Program undertakes different interventions  ranging from; Mobilization and training beneficiaries in group dynamics (group formation, mentoring group leaders, training community-based trainers(CBTs) among other group activities), nurturing village saving and lending associations (VSLAs), promotion of home hygiene and sanitation, promotion of food security, promotion of household income through animal production (piggery, cattle and goats keeping) and training in climatic change mitigation and adaptation measures.
