Program Overview

Integrated Livelihoods is our comprehensive approach to improving household incomes through sustainable agriculture, skills training, and business development. We recognize that sustainable development requires addressing multiple aspects of household economic security simultaneously.

Our Approach

Our integrated livelihoods program combines multiple interventions to create lasting impact:

Agricultural Support

We provide training in modern agricultural techniques, quality seeds and inputs, and ongoing support to farmers to increase productivity and diversify income sources. This includes crop production, livestock management, and value addition.

Skills Development

We offer vocational skills training in various trades including tailoring, carpentry, mechanics, and other marketable skills. This enables community members to diversify their income sources and become less dependent on single economic activities.

Business Development

We support entrepreneurs with business training, mentorship, and access to microfinance to start or expand small businesses. This includes market linkages and support for business planning.

Savings and Credit

We facilitate the formation of savings and loan groups, enabling community members to save together and access credit for productive investments. This builds financial resilience and promotes a culture of saving.

Value Chain Development

We work with farmers and producers to improve value addition and access to better markets. This includes processing, packaging, and market information services.

Target Beneficiaries

Our program focuses on:

  • Smallholder farmers seeking to improve productivity
  • Youth seeking employment and skills
  • Women entrepreneurs
  • Vulnerable households including those affected by HIV/AIDS
  • Persons with disabilities seeking economic empowerment

Success Stories

Women's Business Groups

Through our "Empowering Women" initiative, we have supported numerous women to start small businesses. These women now generate sustainable income to support their families and send their children to school.

Youth Skills Training

Many youth have acquired vocational skills through our training programs and are now self-employed or working in various trades, contributing to household incomes and community development.

Monitoring and Support

We provide ongoing monitoring and support to ensure program success:

  • Regular field visits and technical support
  • Progress tracking and impact assessment
  • Refresher training and capacity building
  • Linkages to markets and financial institutions
  • Peer learning and experience sharing
