Our Vision

A self-reliant community engaging in sustainable and holistic development.

This is the vision guiding Caritas Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese (K-MD) through its Strategic Plan 2023–2027 — the fifth in a series of plans since 2002.

Our Mission

"A Catholic Faith Based Organisation working in collaboration with other development partners to empower communities in Kiyinda-Mityana Diocese to achieve self-reliance."

Our Purpose

Caritas SSD K-MD is the Social Services and Development arm of the Catholic Diocese of Kiyinda-Mityana. The Diocese was established in 1981 under the Kampala Ecclesiastical Province. Through its grassroots network spanning 32 Ecclesiastical Parishes across six civil Districts, it strives to empower the poor, the vulnerable, and those society has generally discarded.

Towards Integral Sustainability — Strategic Plan 2023–2027

Our Approach

Caritas K-MD follows the example of Jesus Christ in liberating the human being integrally. Central to the approach is a team of Program/Project officers who implement all interventions across different thematic focus areas, able to travel to the most remote areas of the Diocese. A key shift in the 2023–2027 plan is creating more linkages between field officers so that all citizens within K-MD receive holistic support — not just a single intervention.

Environmental Stewardship

Of equal importance is the protection and preservation of the environment for present and future generations through effective use of natural resources, tree planting, promotion of energy-saving stoves, biogas systems and briquette-making. Communities from 15 of 32 Parishes have already been sensitised and trained in climate change mitigation and adaptation measures.
